Hello, thanks for looking at my bio/portfolio. I’m Kathy Mar, and am versed in all things content—writer, editor, UX designer, copyeditor, blog poster, scriptwriter, proofreader, and content strategist.
I’ve developed content for a variety of mediums, including web, mobile, customer emails, marketing collateral, infographics, presentations, help and how-to copy, learning paths, academic research papers, technical documents, music and book reviews, and print articles.
My career includes stints at major tech companies, two large mobile providers, start-ups, and agency work. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Columbia University and a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Washington. I’ve also completed certificate courses in SEO Copywriting and Proofreading and Copyediting.

I am passionate about the English language, and find great joy in copy that is both impeccably crafted and engaging to read; I do my utmost to ensure that words delight and impact the audience.
I pay attention to detail while remaining focused on the overall objective of the piece, am a stickler for good grammar, and review copy flow and syntax. I adhere to the five C’s: Clear, Concise, Compelling, Consistent, and Credible. In addition, I’m familiar with several style guides, including AP and Chicago, and versed in SEO best practices.

I possess a combination of creativity and technical aptitude (right brain/left brain) and have broad interests, so am comfortable with works that cover an array of subjects. I have excellent research skills, take deadlines seriously, communicate responsively, and manage my time wisely. I’m a voracious reader, lifelong learner, and unwavering fan of the Oxford comma.
